Mastiff Preservation is designed to be an archive for the "English" bloodlines and to encourage the development of viable linebred and outcross mastiffs for the future. A viable mastiff means one of "clean" pedigree, correct conformation (type), soundness, and temperament.
There is a very small percentage of these bloodlines left and we hope to find these bloodlines wherever they may be, and by careful planning, preserve and increase the number of Mastiffs with these bloodlines.
Today Mastiffs are more plentiful than ever before. However, the state of the breed in terms of quality stock doesn't coincide with the numbers produced. It is getting very difficult to find dogs that maintain the purity of these lines.
Warning! There can be unscrupulous breeders within the English lines, as in any other lines. And there are some walking the fence breeding both Deer Run lines and English lines, marketing to prospective buyers. Mastiff Preservation is not about helping anyone achieve a livelihood.
You will find some interesting articles and information here; but that does not mean that everyone will agree totally with all of the information given. It is here to learn from, and to give you some differing opinions, which will help you decide whether or not you are interested in helping to preserve the Mastiffs of these bloodlines.
